Arsenal agree €20m deal to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas

By

Arsenal have agreed a €20 million deal to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas, with the transfer subject to personal terms still being finalized, per Gunnerblog and Adam Leventhal of The Athletic. The package consists of an €18 million fixed fee with a further €2 million in potential add-ons.

Trossard, who is 31, has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract. He agreed new terms in August 2025 that delivered a significant pay rise but did not push the expiry date beyond the already-agreed 2027 end point, giving the club little leverage to hold out for a higher fee.

Per The Athletic, Besiktas are offering wages of up to €9 million per season as part of the package. Personal terms are in the process of being finalised, though the deal is unlikely to be formally concluded until Belgium complete their 2026 World Cup campaign. Trossard has started all four of Belgium’s matches under head coach Rudi Garcia and faces the United States in the Round of 16 on Monday.

The deal won’t progress until Belgium’s World Cup campaign ends

Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 for £27 million after Chelsea moved ahead of the Gunners to sign Mykhailo Mudryk. In 174 appearances at the Emirates, he scored 36 goals and provided 34 assists, establishing himself as a dependable and versatile attacking option across the front three.

His 2025-26 season produced eight goals and 11 assists across 50 appearances, contributing to Arsenal’s Premier League title win and a run to the Champions League final.

The sale actually reflects Arsenal’s intent to upgrade the left side of their attack. The club has been linked with alot of replacements, including PSG winger Bradley Barcola, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, and Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis. The Barcola pursuit faces significant obstacles after PSG made clear the Frenchman is not for sale regardless of incoming business.

Besiktas, who play in the Turkish Süper Lig, have identified Trossard as a player capable of helping them close the gap on domestic rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. Club president Serdal Adali has publicly backed the pursuit.

The Belgian had also attracted interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Diraiyah, with reports earlier this week indicating the Saudi club were offering a competing financial package. Trossard has not confirmed his intentions publicly, and all reports caution that the personal terms are not yet signed.

Arsenal will receive a modest return for a player who gave the club three and a half consistent years, but retaining him into the final months of his deal would have complicated their summer rebuild while generating no fee at all.
