Victor Wembanyama set an NBA postseason record with 12 blocks in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Monday night, and the first two of those came against the same player on back-to-back possessions in the opening minutes.

Terrence Shannon Jr., the Minnesota Timberwolves guard who has built his game around attacking the paint, was the one Wembanyama stuffed first. Twice. Right at the start of the game, in front of a home crowd in San Antonio.

The Spurs’ 22-year-old cornerstone said something after the game.

“He gonna have to block it every time, I ain’t gonna stop going downhill and I told him that when he said a little something after he blocked my second one,” Shannon Jr. said. “He gonna have to block it every time, man. I know he ain’t gonna block it every single time. I’m gonna dunk on him.”

“I know he ain’t gonna block it every single time,” Shannon Jr. said.

Game 2 is on Wednesday in San Antonio. Wembanyama will be ready. So, apparently, will Shannon Jr.
